This detail is important whether you are moving with a family or purchasing your first Edmonton home. In an effort to prevent neighbourhood crime, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) developed a Neighbourhood Crime Mapping website in place. Established in 2009, it shows the number of crimes reported in each community, as well as the the areas where crime is being reported. By providing citizens with these tools, the EPS hopes to empower Edmontonians with the knowledge needed when making crime prevention decisions.

The names of Edmonton’s light transit rail lines have been revealed. In an effort to engage Edmontonians in the naming process, Leger Marketing issued a 2012 contest to name the current and future transit lines. This contest was the perfect opportunity for residents to play a key role in the identification of Alberta’s Capital Region. After carefully sorting through 900 submissions, Edmonton’s Naming Committee unanimously approved the final list of names on January 21st, 2013:
