Holiday Clean-up Tips
Well the holiday season has ended, leaving behind a trail of cookie crumbs, leftover turkey and a long clean-up list. Never fear! With the help of Edmonton Home Pros, your holiday clean-up can be organized and fun. After all, we know that post-Christmas, most homeowners hibernate in their Edmonton homes for a few days.
Clean-up tip number one:
Stockings that were hung by the chimney with care, should be put away with care.
Edmonton homeowners are proud of their Christmas trees and the hard work that went into strategically placing each decoration. So the last thing you want next year, is to find a mess of broken glass. When doing your clean-up, wrap your ornaments individually to avoid breakage. The same applies to your outdoor and indoor Christmas lights. Lighting should be gathered and stored properly, to keep them untangled and prevent any broken bulbs. Canadian Tire stores in Edmonton also sell Lights Kit Storage, or a garden hose reel that you can use.
Clean-up tip number two:
To keep your Christmas trees’ leaves unchanging, use a storage bin for easy assembling.
If you have an artificial Christmas tree, store all the pieces in a large bin. If need be, tie your tree’s branches together with some twine, so you’re not fishing for long or short branches. Before starting your Christmas tree clean-up, store your wrapping paper inside a bin or tall laundry hamper. Make sure they are stored in an easily accessible location…you never know when you’ll need wrapping paper for gifts.
Remember…
If they can do it in the North Pole, you can do it in your Edmonton home.
Staying as organized as possible before, during and after the holiday season will keep you in much higher spirits when its time to clean-up.
Don’t be a grinch, recycle!
Used Christmas lights can also be taken to the nearest Edmonton Eco Station. Visit the City of Edmonton’s website for some tips on how to Reduce Holiday Waste.
